Why we run......

Our team
is comprised of northern California law enforcement officers from several
different agencies. We are all dedicated runners with many distance running
abilities. We have runners that have competed in Marathons and Ultra's. Our
goals and objectives is the ability to run in honor of Ben who received a
new heart in 2006. In 2007, Ben and his family actually ran across the finish
line with our entire team as Bens legs were still not working with his new
heart. In 2008, we hope Ben can run across the finish line on his own.
The RELAY is "California's Longest Party" running from Calistoga
in Napa Valley to Sonoma to Marin, through Sausalito, across the Golden Gate
Bridge, through San Francisco to Palo Alto and through Silicon Valley to the
beach in Santa Cruz. Featuring the natural beauty of the Bay Area, the 199-mile
course boasts the largest number of tourist destinations of any run.
The teams are comprised of 12 runners who each run three legs. The 36 legs
through 36 cities are three to nine miles long. Runners of all abilities are
challenged as they get tired and exhaustion sets in after 20 plus hours of
driving and running.
It takes strength, strategy and endurance to reach the finish. It also takes
cooperation, sensitivity and understanding to travel many miles with sweaty
bodies. Conquer as a team what few dare to face alone. The Relay is a unique
adventure uniting athletes and donees in the celebration of life, running
and teamwork.
