It’s California’s
Longest Party! Gather your friends (12 member teams).
Decorate your van. Dress your best (costumes optional). Run (199 miles)
or walk (128 miles) all night. April 19/20, 2008. You're invited!
We are a team of runners who annually participate in the "The Relay"; a 199 mile relay run from Calistoga California to Santa Cruz California. The mission of the "The Relay" is to raise money and awareness of the importance of organ donation. Each year our team begins a campaign to raise money for this important cause. We run in honor of a young child named Ben Thornton. Ben received a new heart at Stanford Hospital in 2006 to cure a condition called cardiomyopathy. Although they do not know who the heart donor was, Ben’s parents, Sonoma County Deputy Sheriff Gary Thornton and his wife Angel are so grateful to the donor family. Their tragedy created a miracle for Ben.
