Please donate to 911 Team

Dear Friends:

On April 19th and 20th 2008, Team 911 will be running 199 miles from Calistoga, across the Golden Gate Bridge to the beach in Santa Cruz, with a 12-member law enforcement team (“Team 911, We Run Code 3”) supporting 90,000 Americans waiting for organ transplants. During The Relay, the passing of a baton to the next team member will symbolize the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient. Our team will dedicate our run to honor four-year-old Ben Thornton of Cloverdale who received a new heart at Stanford Hospital in 2006 to cure a condition called cardiomyopathy. Although they do not know who the heart donor was, Ben’s parents, Sonoma County Deputy Sheriff Gary Thornton and his wife Angel are so grateful to the donor family. Their tragedy created a miracle for Ben. Please discuss organ donation with your family members. This will allow your loved ones to make informed decisions if they are ever faced with donating your organs.
